Taliban terrorists announces its control over the ninth Afghan province

An Afghan lawmaker said that the Taliban terrorist movement had captured the city of Faizabad in northern Afghanistan, the ninth capital of a province controlled by extremist insurgents in less than a week.
Representative Zabihullah Atiq told AFP on Wednesday, “Late at night the security forces were still fighting the terrorists for several days, but they came under great pressure. The Taliban have now taken over the city, and both sides have suffered heavy losses.”
The Taliban, which has been making rapid progress since the start of the withdrawal of foreign forces, now controls the capitals of nine out of the 34 provinces in Afghanistan, including seven of the nine state capitals in the north.
The withdrawal of foreign forces is supposed to be completed by August 31, 20 years after the international forces led by the United States invaded Afghanistan following the attacks of September 11, 2001.
