Muslim leaders are calling for increased security for mosques across Texas after someone posted a threat toward a Houston mosque in an online chatroom.

The user, who identified himself as a 24-year-old, wrote on the “4chan” internet forum that he was going to attack the Baitus Samee Mosque in the Northside. When asked why he wanted to attack the mosque, the user responded, “Simple, Kebab is like cancer, if you remove it early than [sic] you won’t die.”

The Houston chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relationships said this is the second threat the mosque has received recently.

“Based on recent events and hate crimes targeting American Muslims, immigrant communities and other minority groups, it is critical that we take these threats seriously and bring the perpetrators to justice,” CAIR-Houston’s executive director, Lubabah Abdullah, stated in a press release.
