Punjab government and police have not allowed buses carrying Shia pilgrims to travel from South Punjab to reach Taftan border via Balochistan province.

The pilgrims have legal travel documents to go for pilgrimage on Arbaeen in Iraq but they had to spend cold night like strangers on roads on the inter-provincial border in South Punjab.

The Shia pilgrims from Ahmed Pur Siyal, Jhang and Chiniot have left their towns for Taftan border but they were stopped at the inter-provincial borders. The pilgrims include elders, women and children also.

It is relevant to add here that legally there is no bar on any citizen of Pakistan to travel to other provinces but the officials demand route permits and permission for their travel.
