Malaysia to Host ICMAD 2026 Conference on Contemporary Issues Facing Muslim Communities

Malaysia’s Sultan Zainal Abidin University (UniSZA) in Terengganu is set to host the International Conference on Muslim Affairs and Contemporary Issues (ICMAD 2026) on October 5, bringing together scholars, researchers, academics and policymakers from around the world.

Held under the theme “Addressing Ummah Crises and Contemporary Challenges Through Global Cooperation,” the conference will examine major challenges facing Muslim communities and explore practical solutions through international cooperation and partnerships.

The event will bring together representatives from academic institutions, non-governmental organizations, industry and student communities. Discussions will cover Islamophobia, conflict management, humanitarian crises, refugee issues, Islamic education, fatwas and law, as well as economic and social empowerment.

Participants will also address the preservation of Islamic heritage, family values and the social and economic changes affecting Muslim communities.

Technology and innovation will form another key part of the conference, including discussions on artificial intelligence ethics and the role of science, technology, innovation and sustainability in addressing contemporary challenges.
