United Nations: Peace is the only solution to end the humanitarian crisis in Yemen

The United Nations stressed that peace is the only option to end the humanitarian crisis in Yemen, which has been witnessing an eight-year war.

“Today is United Nations Day, agencies and partners are doing their utmost to help the millions of people in need of assistance in Yemen,” the United Nations Office in Yemen said in a statement on the occasion of United Nations Day, adding that this is a reminder that the Yemen crisis is primarily driven by the protracted conflict and only peace can end it.”

For her part, Assistant Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Deputy Emergency Relief Coordinator Joyce Msuya thanked all the humanitarian workers who are doing their best to alleviate the suffering of millions of people in Yemen and around the world.

Yemen is witnessing the worst humanitarian crisis, according to UN reports, with more than two-thirds of the population in need of assistance, as a result of the repercussions of the war that erupted eight years ago.
