The Erada Organization for Combating Torture and Enforced Disappearance says it has documented 752 cases of enforced disappearance in Yemen since 2014, including 237 children.

The figures were presented during a human rights symposium at the United Nations Palace in Geneva titled “Victims of Torture and Enforced Disappearance: Impunity and the Necessity of Accountability.”

The organization said detainees have faced torture, ill-treatment, and denial of contact with their families inside detention facilities, describing these practices as grave violations of international law.

Participants said enforced disappearances in Yemen represent a humanitarian and human rights crisis requiring urgent international action to reveal the fate of the missing, hold perpetrators accountable, and secure justice for victims and their families.

During the event, the organization launched a new report titled “Behind the Walls of Silence,” which includes information on a secret detention facility, maps, and testimonies from former detainees and families of the disappeared.

The organization called on the United Nations and the international community to take stronger steps to end impunity, protect victims’ rights, and ensure accountability under international human rights law.
