The Noor al-Huda Islamic boarding school in Indonesia hosted a scientific and cultural seminar titled “The Secret to Becoming a World-Class Muslim Scholar,” bringing together Iranian cultural counsellor Yahya Jahangiri, the school’s director, teachers, and students to discuss ways to prepare a new generation of Muslim scholars capable of contributing to global knowledge and academic research.

The school, which has more than 1,000 students, emphasizes Islamic studies alongside Arabic and English language education. Its director noted that some graduates hope to pursue university studies in Egypt and Iran, where they can expand their knowledge and gain further academic experience.

During the seminar, Jahangiri discussed the historical contributions of scholars from Islamic civilization to the development of science and human knowledge, citing figures such as Ibn Sina (Avicenna) and Abu Hamid al-Ghazali. He stressed that producing scholars with an international academic presence requires specialized expertise, rigorous research, proficiency in international languages, and strong critical-thinking and creative skills.

The Iranian cultural counsellor also highlighted scientific and technological achievements in Iran, particularly in medicine, engineering, technology, and the humanities. He outlined educational opportunities and university programs available to international students interested in pursuing higher education in the country.

Jahangiri further emphasized the importance of integrating modern scientific knowledge with the intellectual heritage of Islam. He called for Islamic educational institutions to learn from contemporary academic practices while preserving their religious and cultural identity and developing qualified researchers and academics.

The seminar highlighted the importance of strengthening Islamic education and expanding engagement with international universities. Participants stressed that combining traditional Islamic scholarship with modern scientific methods can help prepare future generations of Muslim scholars to contribute to knowledge production, research, and scientific and civilizational progress.
