South Africa: 3 Egyptian monks stabbed to death in Coptic monastery

Police in South Africa said Wednesday they are looking into murder of three Egyptian Coptic monks who were killed inside a monastery east of the capital Pretoria, Anadolu Agency reported.

The Coptic Orthodox Church of South Africa said in a Facebook statement on Tuesday that three of their monks fell victim to “criminal assault”, identifying one of them as a representative of the Coptic Diocese of South Africa.

According to Police statement, the three monks had stab wounds, and an investigation is underway.

It should be mentioned that South Africa has one of the highest incidents of violent crime in the world.
