UN Warns of Failing Grades on Global Development Goals

The UN’s Sustainable Development Goals report paints a grim picture, with only 16% of targets on track for achievement by 2030. War, funding shortfalls, and climate disasters are cited as major roadblocks.

Scandinavian countries continue to lead the pack, with Finland topping the Sustainable Development Goals Index. However, Secretary-General Antonio Guterres warned the world is “getting a failing grade.”

He highlighted a lack of progress on issues like poverty, hunger, and climate change. “Our failure to secure peace… is undermining development,” Guterres stated. The report urges increased global cooperation, financing, and action for a green transition to get back on track.
