Rome hosts the Second International Conference of Shias and Catholics

The Italian capital hosted a two-day international conference under the title “Catholics and Shias Facing the Future” in the presence of scientific and religious figures from the world’s Shias from Iraq, Iran, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, France, England, and cardinals from Catholic churches all around the world.

In the conference, speakers discussed and exchanged views on the commonalities between Christianity and Islam.

Unity and sympathy among people based on the teachings of the Abrahamic religions and avoidance of war, hostility and hatred was also discussed.

The International conference, which was held by the efforts of the Iraqi Imam Al-Khoei Foundation and the Italian Santigidio Institute, led by Andre Riccardi, in the conference hall of the Santigidio Institute in Rome.

The event was inspired by the historical meeting of Pope Francis and Grand Ayatollah Sistani in Iraq.
