Ale-Yasin Hussainiya in Sydney Attacked by Extremist Sunnis

The Ale-Yasin Hussainiya, the most important Shia center in Sydney, Australia, was attacked by extremist Sunni groups.

According to Sheikh Abu Rayhan, the director of Ale-Yasin Hussainiya, this incident occurred on Tuesday, March 5, 2025, as reported to Shia Waves Agency.

Surveillance camera footage shows an individual, identified by Hussainiya officials as affiliated with the Wahhabi sect, removing and stealing the flag of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him), which had been displayed in front of the Hussainiya for the past 13 years.

Officials at Ale-Yasin Hussainiya have pursued legal action through the police and legal centers in Australia following this attack. Thanks to the efforts of the Hussainiya’s youth, a new flag of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) was raised again in front of the center on the same day.

It is noteworthy that Ale-Yasin Hussainiya is the most significant Shia center in Australia, providing various cultural and religious programs weekly and during religious occasions to serve the Shia community in Australia. Events at this center are covered by Imam Hussein TV in both English and Arabic.
