The Washington Post newspaper published a report in which it indicated that human rights violations in China, stressing that they are receiving great attention in the run-up to the Winter Olympics in Beijing in February.
The newspaper stated in a report, that the student movement in American universities is leading a protest against the genocide of the Uighurs by China.
The campaign began with conversations among ordinary students in dorm rooms, corridors and cafeterias, all of whom were shocked by the actions of the Chinese government, said Rory O’Connor, one of the founders of the Athenaeum Institute who helped formulate the decision.
The student anti-genocide movement works alongside other human rights groups, including the Uighur Human Rights Project, Students for a Free Tibet, Keep Taiwan Free and many others, organizing efforts to raise awareness of various atrocities committed by the Chinese government.
