Tucker Carlson: I Was Wrong to Incite Against Islam and Muslims, and My Previous Views Were “Hysterical”

American media personality and commentator Tucker Carlson has acknowledged that his previous views on Islam and Muslims were wrong, describing his rhetoric at the time as “hysterical” and inflammatory. He said he no longer believes the ideas he once promoted.
Speaking in an interview with Sky News, Carlson said that for years he repeated the claim that “the problem is Islam and Muslims” and believed that Muslims “all wanted to kill us.” He added: “I was hysterical and I believed that, but I now realize it is not true. None of it is true, although I believed it at the time.”
The remarks come amid notable shifts in Carlson’s public positions in recent years. He was previously known for his conservative views, strong support for U.S. President Donald Trump, and critical rhetoric toward Muslims.
Carlson also said he had stopped supporting the Republican Party and expressed regret over previously urging people to vote for Trump and backing him in the last election. At the same time, he said he does not intend to join the Democratic Party and is still reassessing his political views.
His comments reflect a shift in his rhetoric toward Islam and Muslims after years of statements that drew widespread controversy and criticism from human rights and Islamic organizations, which said such views contributed to negative stereotypes and hate speech.
