The International Council Supporting Fair Trial said that medical negligence and denial of treatment in Bahraini prisons endangered the lives of thousands of detainees.
In a series of tweets via its Twitter account, the Council pointed out that the Bahraini authorities deal with the right to expression as a fatal crime, as part of a revenge policy devoid of humanity, and stressed that the difficult circumstances due to COVID-19 did not prevent the authorities to continue their policy.
It explained that many prisoners of conscience in Bahrain pay a large price simply for exercising the right to expression, without regard for the health conditions they suffer from.
The Council called for the necessity of forming an investigation committee to review the huge number of violations against prisoners of conscience, and take immediate measures to save them, stressing that humanitarian appeals are no longer useful in light of international silence and political support, and that immediate action is required now more than ever.
