Dangerous escalation of violations against Shia Muslims across the world, says report

Shia Rights Watch has revealed a very dangerous escalation in the targeting of Shia Muslims around the world, amidst silence of the international community on what is happening against the followers of Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them) as a result of terrorist operations and repression practiced by the ruling regimes.

The organization issued its monthly report, which was received by Shia Waves Agency, on the most prominent human rights violations committed against Shia Muslims for the period from (November 1 to December 1, 2022).

The report reviews many terrorist operations carried out by takfiri groups against Shia Muslims, in addition to the repression and abuse practiced against them by some regimes and governments.

The monthly report included seven countries that witnessed terrorist attacks and increasing campaigns of repression against Shias, namely (Iran, Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Pakistan, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and Iraq).

The organization recorded (21 violations) against Shias, including two terrorist assassinations in Iran, a bloody massacre and displacement by the Al-Ban movement in Afghanistan, displacement of Afghan refugees and arrests of Shias in Pakistan, three cases of arrest in Bahrain and two in Saudi Arabia, while Iraq recorded alone, six terrorist attacks were carried out by ISIS, which left dozens of martyrs and wounded.

The organization said in its report that it, “relied on its own sources and some public sources, such as individuals and groups active in the field of freedoms and human rights in countries that witnessed these violations.”

The organization said that it “refrained from mentioning some violations due to the absence of confirmed evidence, despite the certainty that these violations occurred in some countries,” stressing that it “does not seek in its work any political or profitable goals, other than achieving justice and equality that human societies aspire to.”
