Bulgarian university scholar embraces Islam after translating Quran

A Bulgarian Classical Arabic Studies lecturer has converted to Islam

 

A Bulgarian Classical Arabic Studies lecturer has converted to Islam after studying and translating the Holy Quran into the Bulgarian language.

Prof. Dr. SvetanTeofanov works in the Department of Classic Arabic Literature at the Sofia University, giving lectures in Quran and Quranic exegesis.

He has until now several published books in addition to publishing a Quran interpretation. Prof. Teofanov has finished his specialty doctorate at the Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies as well as second doctorate at the Moscow Oriental Studies Institute.

Dr. Teofanov said that converting to Islam has led to many doors opening for him, adding that he felt the authenticity of the words of the Quran, while he was completing the actual translation. He concluded this was the reason behind his conversion to Islam.
