Thousands Protest Islamophobic Attacks in Edinburgh
——————————————
Thousands of people joined an anti-racism march in Edinburgh, Scotland, to condemn Islamophobic attacks and oppose the rise of far-right politics in Britain.
According to Edinburgh News, the rally was coordinated by the anti-racism group “Take Back Our Streets” and brought together residents, civil society groups, politicians, and trade unions.
The protest followed a series of incidents on June 19 in Sighthill, Telford Road, and Leith Walk, where five people were injured, including young worshippers from Broomhouse Mosque.
Demonstrators on Leith Walk observed a minute of silence at the site of one of the attacks. The march also received support from several unions and public figures.
Felix, an activist with Stand Up to Racism Edinburgh, said the protest showed a collective response to racist violence in Leith and Edinburgh. He said the message was clear: attacks on one community would be met with united resistance from thousands of people.
Activists pledged to continue opposing racism and far-right violence, stressing that communities would stand together against hate and intimidation.
