Pakistan: At least 16 TTP members eliminated in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab; Polio Vaccination Guards Ambushed

Pakistani security forces have killed 16 militants linked to the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) in separate operations across Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provinces, Khaama Press reported. In Punjab, police and the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) raided TTP hideouts in a mountainous area, killing 10 militants who were reportedly planning attacks on government sites and civilians. Intelligence had indicated the presence of 20 to 30 militants in the region.
Meanwhile, in Mir Ali, North Waziristan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, six more TTP militants were killed during clashes with security forces. Authorities seized significant amounts of weapons, ammunition, and explosives from the militants’ hideouts.
A senior security official described the operations as part of ongoing efforts to eliminate terrorist threats in Pakistan’s border and interior regions. These actions come ahead of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in Islamabad, underscoring Pakistan’s commitment to national security as violence and terrorist operations continue to plague the nation.

Just today, at least two security personnel were killed and another injured in an ambush on a polio vaccination team in southwestern Pakistan on Wednesday, police said.
The incident occurred in the Mastung district of Balochistan province, where gunmen opened fire on the vaccinators, killing the two personnel on the spot.
