Humanitarian Crisis in Lebanon: Escalating Displacement, Food Security Threats, Attacks on Mosques and Journalists
——————————————-
Lebanon is facing an unprecedented humanitarian crisis following the breakdown of a ceasefire and the intensification of aerial bombardments.

According to Anadolu Agency, thousands of families who had recently returned to their homes after a period of relative calm have been forced to flee again. Roads leading to the north and the city of Sidon are now overcrowded with displaced people seeking refuge in schools as temporary shelters to protect themselves.

This ongoing situation has raised alarm over the destruction of religious sites and residential homes, further exacerbating fears about the collapse of civilian infrastructure.

Lebanon’s official news agency reported that recent Israeli airstrikes on areas such as Nabatieh and Bourj Rahal resulted in civilian casualties and the complete destruction of a mosque and a Hussainiya in Zawtar East.

Meanwhile, Middle East News highlights the dire conditions in Lebanese schools, which have now become the primary shelters for displaced people.

Furthermore, UN News reported that Lebanon has become the deadliest country for journalists in 2026, reflecting widespread violations of international law.

According to Reuters and the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), over 1.24 million people in Lebanon are facing severe food insecurity.

To date, the number of displaced people has surpassed 1.16 million, and with ongoing attacks and shortages of essential goods, a humanitarian disaster is unfolding in the heart of the Islamic world.
