Iran-Iraq agreement to allow pilgrims having no passports to perform Arbaeen Pilgrimage

Iranian local media outlets reported that according to the agreement reached between the Iranian and Iraqi authorities, even those without a passport can go to perform the Arbaeen Pilgrimage of Imam Hussein, peace be upon him.

In this regard, Fars News Agency, quoting the official of the Arbaeen headquarters in Iran who wrote: “According to the agreement between Iran and Iraq, even people who do not have a passport and want to obtain a passport for the first time, they will be able to perform Arbaeen Pilgrimage.

According to the official, an agreement has been reached with the Iraqi side to issue a special passport to the applicants quickly and almost without cost, so that people who do not have a passport can go on the Arbaeen.

No further details were announced regarding the Iran-Iraq agreement, but Iranian officials announced that the full details and terms of this order will be announced in the next few days.

It should be noted that many Iranian young people are deprived of obtaining a passport for various reasons, including not going to military service, and thus can not go to perform the Arbaeen of Imam Hussein, peace be upon him.
