Karbala Prepares for Arbaeen Pilgrimage with Extensive Service and Crowd Control Measures

As millions of pilgrims prepare to descend upon Karbala for the annual Arbaeen commemoration, the Al-Abbas Holy Shrine and its associated complexes are finalizing comprehensive preparations, including massive water provisions, extensive visitor complex readiness, and sophisticated crowd management systems.

The Al-Abbas Holy Shrine has initiated large-scale storage of drinking water, with thousands of boxes from the Al-Kafeel Water Factory being stockpiled in various locations, including key streets leading to the shrines, Abna news agency reported. This systematic distribution plan aims to supply water to both service processions and individual pilgrims throughout the pilgrimage.

Concurrently, the Al-Alqami Visitors Complex has completed its elaborate preparations, which began at the start of Muharram. These measures encompass organizational, service, logistical, and technical aspects. Key enhancements include dividing the complex into separate sections for men and women, installing saran fabric coverings for shade, expanding the front facade to house religious guidance and cultural stations, and fully equipping the guest unit. Significant infrastructure upgrades, such as cooling systems for food, material storage, a new electrical transformer, and an emergency water pipe for sanitary facilities, have also been implemented.

To manage the immense crowds, the Department of Industrial and Artistic Crafts at the Al-Abbas Holy Shrine has begun installing wooden barriers near the shrine of Aba al-Fadl al-Abbas (peace be upon him). These barriers are crucial for organizing the flow of visitors, defining clear entry and exit paths, and separating men from women, all vital components of the holy shrine’s comprehensive plan for the Arbaeen pilgrimage.
