Egypt: Ferry sinks in Nile, killing at least 10 passengers
A ferry sank on Monday in the Nile near Cairo, Egypt, killing at least 10 of the 15 people on board, who were on their way to work at a construction firm, africanews website reported.
The survivors were hospitalized and later released, the source mentioned, adding that each family of the deceased received 200,000 Egyptian pounds in compensation, while the injured received 20,000 pounds each.
Egypt has frequent ferry, railway, and road accidents due to poor maintenance and lack of regulations.
