Start of construction on first Husseiniyah in the Himalayas with the efforts of Sayyed al-Shuhada Committee

The Sayyed al-Shuhada Committee, affiliated with the Shirazi Religious Authority, has begun building the first Husseiniyah and Islamic center in the Himalayas in Afghanistan, adjacent to the mountainous borders of China.

In a statement received by Shia Waves News Agency, the official website of the Shirazi Religious Authority stated that “in compliance with the directives of the Supreme Religious Authority, His Eminence, Grand Ayatollah Sayyed Sadiq al-Hussaini al-Shirazi, regarding the revival and veneration of the holy Husseini rituals in every part of the world, and in a distinctive and promising practical step to spread the thought of the pure Ahlulbayt, peace be upon them, the Sayyed al-Shuhada Committee adopted the construction of the first Husseiniyah and Islamic center in the Himalayas, adjacent to the mountainous borders of China.

It added that the 500-square-meter land is located in Badakhshan province at an altitude of more than 3000 square.

The website confirmed that the work is continuing despite multiple difficulties, including the bad cold weather, difficulty of getting raw materials to the site, as well as the difficulty of providing labor for construction. Despite all this, the construction continues.

Those in charge expressed their hope that the construction would be completed before next Muharram, so that the Husseini rituals would begin to resound from the Himalayas.
