————————-
The Taliban’s morality police in Khost have shut down 12 recording studios, saying they performed religious chants and songs and were shut to ensure compliance with Sharia principles, Afghanistan International reported.

Mustaghfir Gurbaz, spokesperson for the Taliban governor in Khost, wrote on X on Tuesday, 20 October, that religious songs had been performed in the studios.

Officials from the Taliban’s morality police have not provided details on how long the studios will remain closed or what will happen to those who worked there.

The Taliban has previously also taken action against studios and media production companies.

On 18 July 2025, the group confirmed the detention of several employees and managers of production companies in Kabul over the dubbing of films.

On 26 July that year, the Taliban also announced the arrest of two people accused of translating and dubbing television series containing Western content and said the offices of several production companies had been closed.

The Taliban has also banned music and the playing of musical instruments, confiscating and burning instruments.

The group has also prohibited media outlets from broadcasting music.
