The Office of the Supreme Religious Authority, Grand Ayatollah Sayyed Sadiq al-Husseini al-Shirazi, in the Afghan capital, Kabul, issued a statement condemning the crime of the Gozar-e-Sayed Abad Mosque in Kunduz, which claimed the lives of a large number of followers of the Ahlulbayt, peace be upon them.

The statement, received by Shia Waves, read:

In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Indeed, we belong to God and to Him we shall return.
And do not kill the soul [i.e., person] which Allah has forbidden, except by right. And whoever is killed unjustly – We have given his heir authority. (Surah al-Isra: Verse 33)
Once again, the evil hand of blasphemy, terrorism and criminality, extended to commit a new horrific crime.
The painful tragedy in the Gozar-e-Sayed Abad Mosque in Kunduz, Afghanistan, claimed the lives of a large group of Ahlulbayt followers as they were in a state of prayer and worship. Their blood was shed with injustice and aggression.
The Office of the Religious Authority, Grand Ayatollah Sayyed Sadiq al-Husseini al-Shirazi in the city of Kabul, denounces this heinous crime, and calls upon the international community and those who address issues of security and peace, as well as the country’s officials, not to remain silent about this heinous crime and genocide, and to work diligently to punish those who committed them, as soon as possible, as well as preventing the recurrence of such painful crimes.
We extend our condolences to the Awaited Imam, may Allah hasten his blessed reappearance, and the people of Afghanistan, especially the victims’ families.
May Allah the Almighty bless the souls of the martyrs and grant the wounded a speedy recovery.
Indeed, we belong to God and to Him we shall return.
