The Egyptian Ministry of Endowments decided to completely close the Mosque of Sayyida Zainab, peace be upon her, in Cairo until schools and universities reopen, in order to prevent crowds of visitors on her birth anniversary.
The ministry said in a statement, “In view of the increasing number of visitors to the Sayyida Zainab Mosque, it was decided to close the place of worship until schools and universities reopen.”
Earlier, the Endowment Department decided to close four mosques in Kharfa village in Sohag Governorate, after verifying that one of the people returning from Saudi Arabia was infected with the Coronavirus.
