The Head of Monitoring and Documentation at the Bahrain Center for Human Rights (BCHR) Enas Oun reported on Sunday that Bahraini detainee Mohammed Al-Am was “severely beaten”.
Oun cited complaints from the detainee’s family about his continued harassment at the Dry Dock Detection Center, which includes attempts to shave his head in a humiliating manner as well as abuse suffered at the hands of other prisoners.
Al-Am’s family also demanded an immediate end to the ill-treatment.
In recent months, the Dry Dock administration has been repeatedly accused of a systematic campaign of harassment against political prisoners. Last year, inmates described conditions at the facility as ‘intolerable’ and ‘tragic’.
