Contemporary Thought in the Muslim World Conference launched in Istanbul
Contemporary Thought in the Muslim World Conference was launched in Istanbul on Saturday, with the participation of academics and researchers from different countries.
The two-day conference is organized by the Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities and the ‘Platform’ magazine.
In a speech at the opening of the event, the head of the Presidency for Turks Abroad, Abdullah Arslan, said that the conference is being held at a time when the Muslim world needs joint action.
Arsalan emphasized that, “As a Muslim world, we are facing very complex problems, where the Muslim world and Muslims are being rediscovered and attempts are being made to put them in certain moulds.”
The chairman of the board of directors of the Ilke Foundation, Lutfi Sonmez, said that “many intellectuals, opinion leaders, and politicians in the Muslim world have explored the instability and backwardness that Muslim societies experienced after colonialism.”
Sonmez expressed his belief that this conference will provide a platform for understanding contemporary thought in the Muslim world.
