France: Islamophobic nationalist graffiti sprayed on mosque sparks fear in Muslim community
Pessac Mosque in Girone, France, fell victim to anti-Muslim sentiments earlier this month, with Islamophobic graffiti threats like ‘France for the French’ and ‘Your coffins or your suitcases’ sprayed on its walls, Morocco World News reported.
This came as the fourth wave of hate graffiti targeting the same mosque in less than two years, sparking growing fear among the Muslim community in France of a rise in hateful crimes.
According to the mosque officials, the threats are sending a clear message to worshippers to leave the country, or “they will end up in a coffin.”
They also denounced the “nonchalance and disinterest” of French authorities to deal with such complaints, while complaining about absence of a reinforced and permanent police presence to ensure security for Friday prayers.
