Al-Abbas Holy Shrine Installs Fatimid House of Sorrows to Commemorate Lady Fatima al-Zahra

The Al-Abbas Holy Shrine in Karbala has begun installing the “Fatimid House of Sorrows” inside the courtyard of the shrine of Abu al-Fadl al-Abbas, in preparation for commemorating the martyrdom anniversary of Lady Fatima al-Zahra (peace be upon her).

The installation is part of the shrine’s mourning programmes for the Fatimid Days, which recall the life and suffering of Lady Fatima, the daughter of Holy Prophet (peace be upon him and his family). According to one historical account observed by the shrine, her martyrdom occurred 70 days after the passing of her father.

Zain al-Abidin al-Quraishi, deputy head of the Holy Courtyard Care Department, said the installation aims to evoke the sorrow associated with the occasion and provide visitors with an opportunity to participate in mourning ceremonies. The display includes several commemorative elements highlighting aspects of Lady Fatima’s (peace be upon her) life and legacy.

The Al-Abbas Holy Shrine continues to organize religious and mourning activities during the Fatimid Days, seeking to preserve the heritage of the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them) and strengthen visitors’ spiritual connection with their lives and teachings.
