Malaysia making efforts to attract 3.2 million Muslim tourists this year
Malaysia has set a target of attracting 3.2 million Muslim tourists by 2023, says Malaysia’s deputy minister of tourism, arts and culture, comparing the figure with last year’s 2.1 million.
After the start of the Islamic tourism month in 2023, Khairul Firdaus Akbar Khan told reporters that this figure is equivalent to 20 percent of the total 16 million foreign tourists estimated to travel in the region this year.
He added that the Islamic Tourism Month has great potential to mark an important event for Malaysia to attract Muslim tourists from the region and beyond.
Islamic Tourism Month spans the space from August 21 to September 17, and will include tours of mosques across Malaysia and special activities for the public.
