Gaza Government Reports 262 Journalists Killed in Israeli Attacks Since October 2023

The Gaza government’s Media Office has reported that 262 journalists have been killed and more than 433 injured in Israeli attacks since October 2023, while 143 media organizations have had their offices destroyed or damaged.

In a statement marking the International Day of Solidarity with Palestinian Journalists, the Media Office said those killed included 26 women journalists and 28 media activists. It also reported that 50 media workers had been detained, with 23 still in custody and three missing.

The office added that the families of 32 journalists were completely wiped out and that 53 journalists’ homes were partially or fully destroyed. It estimated losses to Gaza’s media sector at more than $800 million.
