Shia Muslims to hold Ashura march, Quran-raising ceremony in London
The deputy of the secretary-general of Imam Hussein Holy Shrine and one of the participants in the establishment of the central Husseini procession in the British capital London, Alaa Ahmed Dia al-Din, said on Thursday that a crowd of Shia Muslims in London will carry the Holy Quran in the Ashura march, which will be carried out in the city.
Dia al-Din said in a statement followed by Shia Waves Agency that, ” Shia Muslims residing in the British capital London will hold a mass Hussaini march on the tenth day of Muharram to commemorate the martyrdom of Imam Hussein, peace be upon him.”
He added that, “During the march, mourners will carry the Holy Quran in protest against the violation of the sanctity of the Holy Book in some European countries.”
Dia al-Din continued that, “The mourners will also raise a huge banner of Imam Hussein, peace be upon him, on Oxford Street in central London and it will be at a height of (120 meters).”
