All India Shia Ulema conference held in New Delhi

All India Shia Ulema conference was held at Imamia Hall, New Delhi on 15 july 2023.

Ulema scholars and delegates from all over India participated in the conference.
The main agenda of the conference was to bring ulema and scholars from all over the country together to discuss the welfare of Shia community in India.

About 100 Ulema from Kashmir, Kargil, Mumbai, Uttar, Pradesh, Delhi, Bihar and other states attended the conference and discussed the problems of the Shia community in their region.

The main issues the conference discussed was UCC, the uniform civil code, which the ruling government is planning to force upon the current constitution.

The participating Ulema expressed their strict opposition to this enforcement in a unanimous statement.

It is worth mentioning that the implementation of the UCC law means all individual rights of different religions will be removed and from now on, all the people of India regardless of their faith as Muslim, Shia, Christian, Hindu or Sikh, will follow uniform protocols in cases like division of Inheritance, marriage and divorce.

The other important issue was demand for greater Shia representation in different fields and offices of central and state government.

Hujjat ul Islam Shiekh Mustafa Adeeb al-Hindi, representative of Grand Ayatullah Shirazi in India, attended the conference and presented the data about Shia representation in state and central government and asked the delegates to raise the issue in their respective states.

Hujjat ul Islam Syed Saif Abbas Naqvi, Director of Grand Ayatullah Shirazi’s Office in India and the convenor of the conference, promised the delegates that the issues discussed in the conference will be given as a memorandum to state and central government.
