While surveys say that 17% of consumed food is wasted every year, that is 931 million tons of food, the United Nations has asked large companies and institutions to help the 2.4 billion people of the world who do not have enough food.
The appeal has come as part of a UN endeavor to reduce world hunger to zero by 2030.
It should be mentioned that these shocking statistics were published while, according to the estimate of the World Food Organization program, more than 345 million people around the world face a critical level of food insecurity in 2023, and 43 million people are just one step away from famine.
