The spokesman for the Commander-in-Chief of the Iraqi Armed Forces, Major General Yahya Rasoul, announced the killing of 17 terrorists, including a prominent leader in Anbar province.
In a statement received by the Shia Waves Agency, Rasool said, “The Anti-Terrorism Service has carried out a military operation to hunt down the terrorist group in Akashat, in the desert of Anbar province, in the west of the country.”
Iraq declared final victory over ISIS in 2017 after the security forces drove its last remnants from the country, three years after the militant group captured Mosul province.
