Bahraini authorities attack Ashura rituals as part of the restrictions on Shias
On Monday, private sources in Bahrain reported that the authorities attacked the Ashura rituals in several areas of the country.
The sources said, “The Bahraini authorities, through their repressive forces, attacked the mourning rituals held for the commemoration of Ashura of Imam Hussein, peace be upon him, as they removed and burned a number of Husseini banners in different areas of the Kingdom.”
It added that “these actions and practices pursued by the country’s authorities come within the framework of their continuation of the abhorrent terrorist approach and their fight against the Husseini rituals of the Shia community.”
It explained that “the people of Bahraini towns and cities went out in protest marches against these practices, which appear and confirm the targeting of the Shia community by the ruling authority in the country.”
In the same regard, the Bahraini sources said that “the notorious Jaw Central Prison administration in the country has deprived detainees and prisoners of their religious right to practice their religious rites inside the prison.”
The sources indicated that “an unlimited number of detainees inside Jaw Prison protested these arbitrary practices and the violation of their religious rights by performing the sacred Husseini rites.”
