Restrictions on terrorist content via communication platforms in European Union countries

The European Parliament passed a legislation imposing restrictions on electronic platforms by removing “terrorist” messages, photos and videos within one hour, to be applied next year in the European Union.
“This legislation will make it difficult for terrorists to exploit the Internet for online recruitment, incite attacks on the Internet, and glorify their atrocities,” said the Commissioner for Internal Affairs of the European Union, Elva Johansson.
While the legislator, Polish conservative member of the European Parliament, Patrick Jackie, described the legislation as “good and balanced,” saying that it “supports freedom of expression on the Internet and improves security on the Internet.”
