Golpaygani Religious Authority praises the position of the President of the Constitutional Court of Austria on lifting the headscarf ban

In a letter sent to the President of the Constitutional Court in Austria, Christoph Grabenwarter, the religious authority, Grand Ayatollah Sheikh Lotfullah Safi Golpaygani, praised the President’s decision to abolish the law banning the wearing of headscarves in primary schools in the country.
His Eminence affirmed that “the self-dignity that the Almighty has entrusted to the human being with all its ethnic, cultural, linguistic and geographical differences, has always been subjected to operations of targeting and destruction by the authoritarian regimes in the world.”
He added that the intellectuals and the judiciary, which is responsible for preserving the rights of people and implementing justice in societies, play the greatest role in monitoring the performance of governments as well. These institutions bear a deterrent responsibility towards injustice and persecution of peoples, cultures, traditions and beliefs.
He continued, “This is the appropriate action taken by the Constitutional Court in Austria,” confirming its just and honorable role in protecting the religious rights of Muslims in this country.
