Malaysian organization condemns China’s demolition of mosques

The Malaysian Advisory Council for Islamic Organizations “Mapim” issued a statement condemning the Chinese authorities’ demolition of mosques.
The Council demanded that the Chinese government provide clarification regarding the recent reports of demolishing 16,000 mosques in the Xinjiang region of China, where Muslims live.
Last Friday, an Australian institute issued a report stating that the Chinese government had demolished thousands of mosques and violated the rights of the Muslim minority in the Xinjiang region of China.
The Council affirmed that it was amazed at what was stated in the report of the Australian Institute and hoped that China would provide a clarification in which to reveal the truth of the matter, calling on the Organization of Islamic Cooperation to conduct an investigation, and international human rights organizations to conduct independent and impartial field investigations.
It should be noted that the Institute of Strategic Policy, based in Canberra, Australia, said last Friday in a report that the Chinese authorities destroyed thousands of mosques in Xinjiang, northwest of the country.
