Indonesia’s President Prabowo Subianto inaugurated a new dedicated terminal for Hajj and Umrah pilgrims at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport on Sunday, enhancing services for travelers under Saudi Arabia’s Makkah Route initiative.
Home to the world’s largest Muslim population, Indonesia is sending around 221,000 pilgrims for Hajj this year. The renovated Terminal 2F is designed to serve up to 6.1 million travelers annually and includes Saudi immigration counters to streamline pre-departure procedures.
The Makkah Route program, launched in 2019, allows pilgrims to complete visa, customs, and health requirements at their departure airport, reducing wait times upon arrival in Saudi Arabia. Indonesian pilgrims departing from Jakarta, Surabaya, and Solo benefit from this initiative.
