Tens of thousands of Rohingya refugees, residing in Bangladesh’s camps, have protested against the drastic cuts in food rations and claims that they are being pressured to return to Myanmar.
The Muslim refugees, who fled persecution in Myanmar in 2017, demonstrated in camps in Cox’s Bazar, southeast Bangladesh on Thursday.
The protesters reiterated their demands to be guaranteed safe return to Myanmar with citizenship rights granted.
According to human rights reports, more than one million Rohingya refugees live in camps in Bangladesh; amid worsening humanitarian conditions, increase crimes and frequent fires.
