The results of India’s Kerala Assembly election show a major victory for the Congress-led United Democratic Front, with the Indian Union Muslim League also strengthening its position in the state.
According to official Election Commission figures, the Indian National Congress won 63 seats, while its ally, the Indian Union Muslim League, secured 22 seats. The result marked a significant comeback for the UDF after nearly a decade of rule by the CPI(M)-led Left Democratic Front.
Indian media reported that the UDF’s victory ended two consecutive terms of Left rule in Kerala and reshaped the state’s political landscape. The strong performance of the IUML, a key Muslim political party in Kerala, also highlighted the continued influence of Muslim voters and leaders within the UDF alliance.
The result has drawn wide attention in Indian political circles, with analysts describing it as a major shift in Kerala’s balance of power.
