Grand Ayatollah Shirazi Discusses Sin Mentioned in Holy Quran Regarding Holy Prophet

Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Sadiq al-Hosseini al-Shirazi held his daily scholarly session on Wednesday, 17 Jumada al-Awwal, during which the Supreme Marja addressed questions from attendees regarding various jurisprudential issues.

His Eminence referred to verse 29 of Surah Yusuf, stating that the term “sin” in relation to Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him and his family) in this noble verse means “sin in the eyes of the polytheists.” He emphasized that this understanding is based on what the Imams have said, and our method of understanding is through the Book of Allah and the teachings of the Pure Ahl al-Bayt, peace be upon him.

Grand Ayatullah Shirazi further explained that whatever the Pure Ahl al-Bayt have stated and what has been transmitted to us through reliable sources of Hadith should be considered alongside the Quran, similar to how one verse interprets another.

He stressed that regarding the Infallibles (peace be upon them), since their Infallibility is well established, anything that contradicts this fact must be reinterpreted correctly, as there are numerous authentic narrations supporting this concept.
