Islamophobic Attack on Turkish Mosque Disturbs Muslim Community in France

A Turkish-owned mosque in northern France, managed by the Turkish-Islamic Union of Religious Affairs (DITIB), was targeted in an Islamophobic attack when a plaster grenade used for drills was left outside the premises, Daily Sabah reported.

This incident has left the local Muslim community feeling unsettled. DITIB condemned the act, emphasizing that attacks on places of worship undermine societal unity and security.

Last year, a similar incident occurred during Ramadan when a pig’s head was placed outside the same mosque. DITIB expressed its commitment to protecting houses of worship and called for a climate of tolerance in France. The organization also thanked French authorities for their prompt response, including the deployment of a bomb disposal unit.

The city mayor, François Decoster, denounced the attack as “heinous” and assured the Franco-Turkish community of the town’s support. An investigation has been launched to uncover the details surrounding the incident, and the mayor has promised to enhance security measures at places of worship, including increased video surveillance.
