Shia Youth Council in Canada increases efforts to support and educate Muslim youth

The Jaafari Islamic Youth Council in the Greater Toronto Area, Canada, has reaffirmed its commitment to continue its activities aimed at educating the Shia and broader Muslim communities, particularly the youth, about the peaceful message of Islam, inspired by the civilizational teachings of the Ahlulbayt, peace be upon them.

The council emphasized in a statement on its official website that “community engagement of youth on religious, spiritual, academic, and even recreational levels helps achieve the desired goals of raising awareness within Shia and Muslim communities in general across Canada.”

The council currently consists of nine dedicated and active members who strive to create a broad platform across various levels, with the aim of strengthening the bonds within the authentic Shia community.

The council added, “Inspired by the Islamic principles embodied by the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him and his family, and the Imams of Guidance, we are working diligently to empower our youth to build a positive and productive society.”

The council further noted that “this approach reflects our commitment to our Shia community, in pursuit of social unity, the dissemination of knowledge, and the education of Shia youth to take on their true and original roles in community building.”

The council also spoke about its services in “preserving the urban environment, given its significant impact on the quality of life, as well as providing education, training, healthcare, community facilities, and achieving sustainable development”.
