Ahlul-Bayt loyalists visit Holy Shrine of Amir al-Mu’minin on martyrdom anniversary of Holy Prophet
Holy Najaf hosts millions of mourning pilgrims who have reached the city after a long procession on foot.
Iraqi Shiites pay special attention to the Ziyarah of Amir al-Mu’minin Ali (peace be upon him) in the last days of the month of Safar al-Ahzan, which marks the martyrdom anniversary of the Seal of the Prophets, Muhammad al-Mustafa, peace be upon him and his pure family.
During the past days, these mourners generally traveled to the Shrine of Amir al-Mu’minin Ali bin Abi Talib, peace be upon them, using the Najaf-Karbala Arbaeen Procession route.
They gather to express their condolences on this huge calamity to their Master, and to renew their allegiance with him as the immediate and undisputable caliph of the Messenger of God, may Allah send his blessing upon him and his pure family.
Among the pilgrims, there are nationals of other countries, especially Afghans and Pakistanis, who are honored by the Ziyarah of Amir al-Mu’minin Ali (peace be upon him) after performing the Arbaeen Ziyarah of the Master of the Martyrs Imam al-Hussein, peace be upon him.
The last days of the month of Safar also mark the martyrdom of Imam Reza (peace be upon him) and, according to some hadith accounts, Imam Hassan al-Mojtaba (peace be upon him).
