Husseini Mourning Flag Raised on Tehran’s Tallest Flagpole to Mark Start of Muharram

The Iranian capital, Tehran, witnessed a ceremony to raise the Husseini mourning flag on the city’s tallest flagpole in the Abbasabad district, marking the arrival of Muharram and the beginning of the mourning season for the martyrdom of Imam Hussein, his family and his companions, peace be upon them.
The black flag was raised during a public ceremony attended by religious and cultural figures, along with crowds of devotees of the Ahlulbayt, peace be upon them.
The event was marked by an atmosphere of grief and reverence as participants welcomed the days of Husseini mourning and remembered the tragedy of Karbala.
The raised flag symbolized sorrow and condolence for the Master of Martyrs, Imam Hussein, peace be upon him. Participants also chanted slogans and phrases expressing loyalty to his blessed uprising and commitment to the principles for which he sacrificed his life: truth, justice and human dignity.
