Muslims commemorate Isra and Mi’raj, prepare for Imam Ali’s martyrdom in Holy Najaf

Muslims around the world, particularly Shia followers of Ahlulbayt, peace be upon them, commemorated the occasion of the Holy Prophet’s Isra and Mi’raj, one of the most significant Islamic events observed on the 17th of the holy month of Ramadan.
This occasion marks the night when Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him and his family, was ascended to heaven, six months after hijra. The occasion was celebrated through special programs and gatherings at holy shrines and Husseiniyat in Iraq and beyond.
The holy shrine of Imam Ali, peace be upon him, in Holy Najaf witnessed an influx of visitors, as pilgrims gathered to mark this blessed event. Meanwhile, in the holy city of Holy Qom, the office of Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Sadiq al-Husseini al-Shirazi conveyed messages of congratulations and emphasized the importance of commemorating this significant occasion.
This comes while millions of mourners around the world are preparing to commemorate the tragic day when the revered Imam Ali, peace be upon him, was struck on the head by Abdul Rahman bin Muljim, while the Imam was in his mihrab, coinciding with the observance of Laylatul Qadr—the Night of Power—on the 19th of Holy Ramadan.
On this blessed night, worshippers recite supplications, perform the Ziyara of the Imam, and raise copies of the Noble Qur’an over their heads, praying for divine mercy and forgiveness. To accommodate the large number of visitors, the employees and servants at the holy srines are working to ensure that the courtyards are well prepared for this divine occasion.
