Muslim communities organize Annual Unified Ashura Procession in The Hague

A massive Ashura procession was organized in the capital of South Holland, the Hague, to commemorate the painful martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hussein, peace be upon him.

Participants from various Islamic communities across Dutch cities gathered for this annual event, as the Husseini procession stretched for an estimated five kilometers and embodied the Husseini spirit and the participants’ commitment to the ideological and humanitarian values in remembering the eternal Battle of Karbala.

During the procession, participants chanted Hussein slogans such as “Labbaik Ya Hussain… Labbaik Ya Hussain… Labbaik Ya Hussain,” renewing their pledge of allegiance to Imam Hussain, peace be upon him, and his pure household. They raised green and black flags as symbolic expressions of mourning and allegiance.

The mourners from the Islamic communities showcased remarkable scenes of love and loyalty to the European community by adhering to the regulations and guidelines set for organizing this procession. Notably, the presence of devout women and children added a social and humanitarian dimension to this significant event.

Additionally, Husseini servants from the Iraqi community and other communities distributed water, milk, and food to attendees, embodying the spirit of generosity and solidarity that characterizes this occasion.

It is worth mentioning that this procession has been held for 30 years and witnesses wide and growing participation year after year, reflecting the deep loyalty and commitment of Islamic communities to commemorate this great event.
